ABOUT LAONE MINING
Laone Mining and Engineering is the first 100% black owned mining contracting company in South Africa that specializes in raise boring, slots drilling, blind bore drilling, drain hole drilling, etc). In addition to the drilling service offering, Laone Mining is also a Hydraulic specialist and general engineering company. These combined services enable Laone Mining to provide turnkey solutions to the market.
ORIGINS
Laone has morphed over the years into the position it holds today. Previously offering engineering consulting services to the mining industry and public sector as Laone Consulting Engineers. In June 2017, the Atlantis Group of Companies and Laone Mining and Engineering entered into an Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) enabled B-BBEE partnership which resulted in 40% black ownership of the Group.
A negotiated unbundling of the Atlantis Group in 2018 with Master Drilling (purchaser) saw Laone Mining and Engineering taking over various assets and contracts within South Africa previously run by Atlantis. This metamorphosis has resulted in Laone Mining and Engineering becoming the youngest fully empowered multi-disciplinary Mining services company.
BROAD BASED BLACK ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT STRATEGY
Laone Mining can now boast 51% ownership by a black woman. Black female ownership is a significant development within the Raise Boring Drilling industry and an important milestone for Laone Mining, ideally positioning us for a very promising future.
